Welcome to our 1860s Goldrush era log guesthouse!
Charming, private,  and very comfortable, our historic guesthouse sleeps 6 people, is fully equipped and self catered.  If you dream of the country life, you will love staying here!  It's the perfect place to "get away from it all" and experience first class accomodations in an authentic country setting, surrounded by the rich history our "Old House" and the area has to offer.  It is designed for the person with higher expectations.

Owners Gerry and Carol Canuel have been married for 46 years and settled in the Cariboo region of British Columbia 15 years ago after tiring of the city life.  Country people at heart and extreme animal lovers, Gerry and Carol decided to completely restore a historic building on their nearly 1000 acre working cattle ranch in 2003.  After a lot of hard work, attention to detail and devotion to originality, the "Old House" was ready to welcome anyone who yearns for years gone by, when life was simpler and quieter, and one could see the stars every night!

Featuring a large and open floor plan with all original log walls and exposed beams, the "Old
House" has handpolished hardwood floors throughout, a private bathroom with a restored antique clawfoot tub, shower and large fluffy towels, two cozy bedrooms: one with a double bed, and one with a queen and two singles, all featuring custom log headboards, high quality linens and patchwork quilts, and a beautiful and bright country kitchen equipped with all the basics; stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker with coffee, teas, and basic seasonings......sorry no electric oven.  Relax in the large living room/library area on a comfy couch and comfortable chairs.  A wide selection of books, games, puzzles, a flat screen tv, a VCR and DVD player and a large selection of movie favorites are there for you to enjoy.  Unwind and enjoy the fresh Cariboo air in your large private yard.  Sit at the log picnic table surrounded by fields while you barbeque.  Found throughout the Old House, you will surely take pleasure in all of the fine country antiques we have collected and decorated with.

Located in the picturesque and peaceful "Cariboo" region of British Columbia, Canada, you can find us at powerpole # 265 Meadow Lake Rd, just minutes from the historical town of Clinton.  Our area is surrounded by excellent fishing and swimming lakes, scenic hiking, biking & canoeing opportunities, and is a horseback rider's paradise.  We welcome you to bring your horse(s) at no additional charge.  Outside your door, there is fenced pasture to keep them in complete with a running creek and a turnout.  Rich in flora and fauna,  our area also presents fantastic birdwatching opportunities.  Over 209 different species of birds have been cited in the Cariboo region!  Our area is also an excellent spot for winter activities like skidooing, ice skating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice fishing.  Only 20 minutes away, our area boasts one of the best trout icefishing lakes in the Cariboo!

Imagine spending an authentic country Christmas with your family here in winter's wonderland!  Experience the joy of the season where simple pleasures like cutting your own tree and making decorations while the fire warms you inside and the snow falls outside brings you back to days gone by!

Originally built in the 1860s, the "Old House" served as a roadhouse during the Cariboo Gold Rush on the way to the Gang Ranch, which is the largest ranch in North America!

Let us know your interests!  We would be more than happy to arrange a day trip for you;  we have a travel agent and tour specialist on staff:  perhaps an interesting buffalo ranch tour, a river rafting adventure down the mighty Thompson, or a must see tour of the

legendary Hat Creek Ranch (which dates back to 1861) where you can experience how real ranchers once lived, pan for gold, horseback ride, take a stagecoach ride, and visit the Native Interpretation Centre where members of the local Stuctwesemc First Nation share their history and culture.  The Cariboo region of BC also has many heritage sites worth visiting like the 108 Mile Site on the Gold Rush trail where an enormous log barn and a one-room schoolhouse are just some of the beautiful historic structures on-site.  The Cariboo is also home of the Fort Berens Estate Winery, the region's first commercial winery near the Gold Rush town of Lillooet.  This winery won the silver medal at the 2010 All Canadian Wine Championships.

Our brand new horse turnout!

Maybe you'd like to tour the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin and learn about life on the Gold Rush trail, check out the Alpaca Story Ranch, or visit the quaint pioneer museum in Clinton.
Do you enjoy golfing?  If so, the Cariboo Region has several golf courses at your disposal, including the brand new and spectacular Tobiano Course which is only 1.5 hours away.  If skiing is your interest, there are 2 well known ski resorts within a 2 hour drive:  Timothy Mountain and Sun Peaks.

Some of these tours are seasonal.
